"Master of the cruel one-liner"--Evening Standard
"His eye for absurdity is as sharp as his suits"--Guardian

Critically acclaimed comedian Frankie Boyle presents his hotly-anticipated first live stand-up DVD. Recorded live during his sell-out shows at London’s Hackney Empire, Frankie’s unique brand of observational comedy and brutal but perfectly constructed one-liners prove he is one of the best gag writers in the business.

As the stand out act on top-rated satirical comedy show Mock The Week, the sharp-suited Scotsman shows us just a slice of what he’s capable of. In this DVD he unleashes his razor-sharp wit upon the audience with jokes that are too near the knuckle for TV, constantly venturing onto thin ice with outrageous jibes that could be utterly offensive if not delivered with equal measures of visceral cheek and sarcasm, demonstrating the full force of his comic prowess.

Extras:

F**K You Scotland – behind the scenes tour diary
Sketches from BBC3 comedy Rush Hour
Drug experiment – additional audio material

4 out of 5 stars Frankie Boyle Live   August 4, 2010
CORA. (Nottinghamshire)
The whole thing is absolutely hilarious. You'll recognise quite a few bits from Mock the Week, etc. but that's to be expected and doesn't make it any less funny.

If you aren't familiar with Frankie Boyle then this DVD maybe isn't what you should start off with.

3 out of 5 stars FRANKIE   May 22, 2010

Sadly I had seen a lot of this Dvd on youtube. But it is Frankie Boyle doing what he does best.

3 out of 5 stars adult stuff for adults   May 5, 2010

frankie boyle is one controversial comic, he is crude, very vile but in a different way than roy chubby brown, boyle attacks peoples comfort zones, he attacks what you may percieve as exempt from mockery and humilation. This is how he works and at times he is as close to the vein on your neck as any other comic has ever been.
That being said though, he doesnt really mean any harm and has an innocent look in his eyes as he tears through observations that are more funny than not.
I was shocked on the first spin of this at times, at times i was laughing like a little sheep and other times i was just open mouthed at what he said, i guess i aint used to his style yet but i know i liked this and im sure if you have an open mind you will too.

1 out of 5 stars weak   May 2, 2010
Mr. T. J. Bacon (London UK)
To put it simply this is very weak stand up. I used to like Mr. Boyle as I'd only seen snippets of him at a time. The problem with this comedy set is that it is quite simply draining. It is not that it is bad taste or offensive (and yes to some that will be a problem) but his style lacks any narrative or ability to intelligently engage an audience; it is simply offensive joke after offensive joke with no point, irony or satire to it. Taken on their own each joke is quite funny but this is not the point. Indeed offensive comedy can be brilliantly cutting, see Carlin, Morris, Saget, Bruce & Hicks. But after the full run time of this I was left bored as I like personally don't enjoy simple joke telling (aka Tim Vine) for anything that lasts more than 10 mins, but more worrying I felt that Frankie had more in common with less intelligent comedians such as Davidson, or Manning. Its a great shame really as I think he could be a wonderful satirical wit.

I'm a fan of Frankie and I was in stitches all the way through this. Well recommended! He's evil, and shocking but I can't help but adore him!
